Dena Knopp has been appraising residential real estate in Calgary and the surrounding area since 2003 and was granted the CRA (Canadian Residential Appraiser) designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 2007.
She has operated her firm, Advantage Valuation, since 2008, and completed a wide range of residential valuations (including vacant land, leasehold properties, condominiums, executive/luxury homes, and country residential acreages), with a focused specialization in relocation appraisals. Intended uses of those reports has ranged from mortgage financing to pre-listing, foreclosures, estate settlement, matrimonial settlement, litigation, capital gains, and property tax assessment appeal. Advantage Valuation is listed on most lender’s approved appraisers lists.
Dena has also testified as an Expert Witness before the City of Calgary Assessment Appeal Board and the Municipal Government Board. Dena has volunteered for the Calgary MLC from 2009 to 2016, the Alberta Board of Directors since 2012, joined the National Board of Directors in 2019, and was elected as a Vice President in 2021.
Prior to entering the appraisal profession, Dena worked as a Legal Assistant for 10 years, in the areas of real estate, foreclosures and litigation. She is Alberta-born, raised on a farm in rural Alberta, and has called Calgary home since 1989.
